So I read this sticky: http://www.rockfrogs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1063 and have a question:

When you buy a new car/truck, do they recommend that you don't race/tow for the first 500 miles?

When I bought my Tacoma several years ago new the dealer advicsed me (and it was in the manual) that you should not tow anything for the first 3,000 miles. This might have been a bit exsesive but the entire powertrain was new so maybe this was why they said 3,000 miles instad of 300.

My new Yukon gears say no towing for the first 500mi. Additionally they have a seperate break-in sequence for towing after the first 500. Here it is:

15miles> Stop, let cool (repeat 3 times, for a total of 45 miles)

I hate the "stop, let cool" comment. How does the average person know how long before the gears cool down?

When I got my rears done, I drove from larkspur to Castle Rock and stopped for dinner for an hour.
